I am certain that I will receive flack for this post, I will be called a heretic or non-believer, but hear me out.
First, we need to define Egregore. An egregore (egg’ gree gore) is a group thought-form. The creation of an egregore can be intentional or unintentional. The egregore becomes an autonomous entity with the power to influence. Who can create an egregore? A group of people with a common purpose, examples, a family, country or for that matter a group of people who have been attuned to an energy modality. Anything where energy has been placed can become an Egregore.
Why do I feel that energy healing has become an egregore for so many? My answer is not simple but harkens back to the purpose of Energy Healing. I have heard so many people who practice one form or another of energy healing state that Reiki or ‘insert other healing modality name’ is not as strong for me anymore. The next statement is where it gets dicey. Many then create a new form, their own form, and somehow it is different. The energy may very well be different but we, as the open vessels need to discern where we are connecting.
What do I mean? If you are someone attuned or is a vessel for channeled energy what is your connection, is it to the divine or to an Egregore. While the egregore contains the energetic healing, it is a “folder in the sky” of all those who connect and subscribe to the thought system or the energy. In many cases the energy may feel split, different, or less powerful. You may feel tired after your session. A connection to the divine feels strong, powerful, comforting, and whole. You are the vessel and the healing is completed by the divine, not us, it is never our energy. After these sessions you may feel you have received healing, you feel good, and often more energetic.
Then how do we marry all of these new energy modalities? Reiki comes to us in many forms and names. So many have been trademarked or copyrighted. There are other forms of energy healing as well. They all have something in common, it is a belief system. Divine Energy is intelligent, it knows where it is needed and where it should go. We as channels or vessels assist in the healing through holding space and intention. Holding Sacred Space and Intention for healing is half the battle.
Reiki as taught many years ago was about enlightenment, the healing was a by-product. All the symbols and hand positions came later, mostly for westerners that needed structure. How many of you reading this (if you got this far) have heard from a client that stated “I felt hands on my shoulders and on my feet at the same time, how did you do that?” We did not do that, the Divine was in attendance. During a session for a friend I felt and saw a hand within her abdominal area move across the area that needed healing. That movement continued as I moved to another location. As vessels we intuitively focus our energy to a location, but that may not be the root cause of the issue. The energy will go where it is needed, it will do what is needed to do, as long as we are allowing the Divine to participate and complete the healing. I have seen the same happen with animals (I work with dogs, cats, horses, and more). Recently (September / October 2023) I had the pleasure to work with several horses at Riding Therapy location and work with several of the human team members The experience for the humans was wonderful, one in particular was amazing. As we completed the session seated I only used a few hand positions and left my hands on their shoulders. There was a specific intention and this individual stated not only was the energy felt throughout the body, but it felt that hands were being place in areas that she intended or needed healing. As for the horses many just put their heads out to allow for touching, one wanted more and grabbed me by my coat and requested more. The live-in barn cat decided to hang out at the same time and was quite vocal about her needs. It is amazing what happens when you just let Spirit drive, get out of your own way, and understand it is not ‘you’. I share these as they are experiences dear to my heart and when you step back, let go, let the Divine take the reigns, the lead, or take charge you can never go wrong.
I am a vessel for the Divine, I am not the healer, I am not changing anything, the Divine is completing this process. It would be wrong of me to say that I am doing the healing, I am facilitating the healing process. Spirit, the Divine, Source, God, whatever term you use is the healer, and ‘they’ allow me to channel ‘their’ power to cure in extraordinary ways.
